2012- a year of catching up

I'm hoping the beginning of the new year means a time for me to catch up on things that I just didn't have (or make) time for because of a busy November & December.

Other than my main household "To Do" list (which I can almost guarantee will NEVER get done), there are a lot of shows & movies that I'd like to catch up on.

Rizzoli & Isles is done now until summer. Sanctuary just finished with the season 4 finale this week - and hopefully it won't be the series finale. I wish we'd hear soon on a renewal (are you listening, SyFy?) And there are just two more CSI episodes with Marg remaining.

Let's take a look at what's to come on my tv/movie "Catch Up" list.

1. Hell on Wheels
I've watched the first few episodes and loved seeing some familiar faces (namely Chris Heyerdahl as "The Swede", and Ian Tracey as well) I think my catching up starts with episode 4.

2. Downton Abbey

I'd only just begun watching this show (that everyone raved about) for a couple episodes before the busy holiday season came with a vengeance and I got sidetracked. But anything with Dame Maggie Smith definitely needs to be viewed, no matter how long the wait.

3. SVU
I started watching the show more this season with the addition of Kelli Giddish, but having it on at the same time as CSI was a big stumbling block, as even Kelli & Mariska teaming up couldn't tumble Marg from the tops of the priority rankings.

4. The Secret Circle
I started watching this fairly regularly to begin with, until they somehow kept losing screen time for Ashley Crow (my initial reason for watching). Now that she's back a bit more into the storyline, I need to get back to checking out the last few episodes that I've missed.

5. Revenge
Why am I not watching this show yet? I mean, seriously. I love Madeleine Stowe. I guess I'm not really up for a soapy drama yet, or maybe it's just because, like SVU, it's up against Marg & CSI. I'd maybe just rather go watch Madeleine, Aidan Quinn & James Remar in "Blink" on dvd again & again.

6. Sons of Anarchy
I'd really hate to go back through the episode list and figure out just how many I've missed from this show. Maybe all of season 4 so far? Yikes. I need to get back to watching badass biker mama, Gemma.

7. Homeland
I watched a few of these episodes to begin the series, but they came off as fairly boring. I think I need to start back from the beginning and see if a second time around helps any.

8. Justified
I haven't really gotten into this one as much as I'd have liked, so maybe it would help to start from the beginning. I first checked it out because the wonderful Scott Wilson was in an episode in season 2. I do like Nick Searcy (who will always be the evil Frank Bennett from Fried Green Tomatoes)

9. The Walking Dead
This is another one I started watching because it had Scott Wilson, and it's also a show that I quite liked. Unfortunately, it's one of those shows that's on a channel I don't get, so I have to find 'other ways' to get it.

10. Once Upon A Time
I haven't watched more than the first two episodes of this one, so I definitely need to catch up - at least to get more glimpses of Josh Dallas and Robert Carlyle.

11. Combat Hospital
I need to catch up on a few of the last episodes. I think the last one I watched had Christina Cox in it. Is this show still alive or has it officially been cancelled?

12. Falling Skies
I missed the beginning of this show when it started up this summer, as I was on a trip, so I never got into the routine of watching later on. I really need to catch up on this, because (A) I love Colin Cunningham & Noah Wylie (B) I heard Ryan Robbins was going to be in season 2.

13. Haven
I can't remember the last time I watched an episode of this show. It somehow got lost in the deluge of my weekly list of shows to watch.

14. Harry's Law
I think I left off at the season 2 premiere. Season 1 was fun & different, but then they made a whole bunch of changes for season 2 and turned it into just another boring lawyer show. I've got to get back to it and see if it's as bad as I last remembered.

Many more on my list of "haven't gotten around to yet", include:
Enlightened, American Horror Story, Strike Back, Flashpoint, Death Valley, InSecurity, outcasts, Southland, The Listener, The Borgias, Torchwood, Whitechapel, and old episodes of Twilight Zone and Outer Limits.

Yikes. That's a...very long list. And yet it seems all I find myself doing is rewatching episodes of Rizzoli & Isles, Women's Murder Club, Stargate, Sanctuary and CSI (not including the Ray Langston years). I guess that's my 'Relaxing Zone'.

By the way - how much longer do I have to wait before Fairly Legal and In Plain Sight come back?
